Situated on I-30, Mount Pleasant is within convenient driving distance of the Dallas Metroplex, Tyler-Longview, Shreveport and Texarkana.

Pleasant is a commercial center for farming, poultry farming and processing, livestock, oil, lignite and manufacturing. Mount Pleasant is the home of Northeast Texas Community College, which serves a three-county area.
