Opportunities for Involvement


Join a committee!  What greater way to be involved in the Chamber while networking with other members? You are the face of your business. People connect you with your business. Make those connections quickly, by serving on a committee.

Community Development


Governmental Affairs
Purpose::  Advocate or educate for public policy to benefit business, economic growth and our community.
Meets: Twice per year or as needed.
This group of members serves as the Chamber’s legislative advocacy group. The goal of the Chamber’s advocacy is two fold, both to advocate and educate the members. This committee works to create a public policy agenda, build consensus on issues, participate in partnerships to best position businesses and provide members access to forums and governmental issues. Activities include Mount Pleasant Days In Austin, Actions and Advocacy newsletter and Elected Officials Reception.
 
Education
Purpose: Support school districts with special projects when needed
Meets: Monthly
This committee works to bring the community and schools together by acting as a liaison between the business and education communities. Activities include the New Teacher Breakfast to celebrate new teachers to Titus County, Principal for a Day program, LEAP career conference for 8th graders, Academic Rodeo sponsorships and Academic Blanket program to recognize students at the top of their class.

Partner Development



Ambassadors
Purpose:  Promote the Chamber and serve as the public relations arm of the chamber.
Meets: Monthly
The ambassadors, from Chamber member businesses, make up the Chamber’s membership recruitment and retention team. Ambassadors are also active and visible in the area by representing the Chamber at ribbon cutting ceremonies, Business After Hours, Quarterly Business Breakfasts, the Annual Membership Banquet  and other Chamber events.

Business Advancement Committee 
Purpose: Helping members take advantage of what the Chamber has to offer by adding purpose and value to their Chamber investment through community marketing and events.
Meets:  Quarterly and as needed.
The BAC committee provides opportunities for members to get additional value through their Chamber membership and find educational solutions to their business needs. This committee oversees Chamber 101, Google for Business webinars, Global Leadership Summit, and is tasked with creating new educational programming throughout the year. 

Farmers Market
Purpose::  Address agriculture issues that affect the Titus County agribusiness community.
Meets:  As needed as market season approaches
This group serves as the Chamber’s voice on issues directly related to agribusiness in the region and help to plan and manage the annual Mount Pleasant Farmers Market.

Economic Development


Tourism
Purpose: Promote tourism and our community.
Meets:  Quarterly
The tourism committee  governs the  expenditures of the portion of the local Hotel Occupancy Tax (hereinafter referred to as HOT funds) provided to the committee by contractual relationships between the Chamber and City of Mount Pleasant. These expenditures provide a coordinated, professional advertising and promotional program to make the Mount Pleasant area a travel destination. This committee reviews applications received by the Chamber from events and organizations who are interested in hosting an event in our city but who need financial support to make it happen. The committee makes recommendations to the Chamber CEO to approve or deny funding requests.

Organizational Development


Total Resource Campaign
Purpose: Provides sponsorship revenue, membership recruitment and volunteer recruitment.
Meets:  Once per year during the first quarter
The Total Resource Campaign provides a method to support the goals of the Chamber and to benefit the business community through sponsorship opportunities. The campaign kicks off each year after the Annual Membership Banquet and runs for approximately 5 weeks. Teams of volunteers build relationships with current and future members through sponsorship opportunities.

Budget
Purpose: Maintain the fiscal integrity of the Chamber.
Meets:  As needed.
This committee reviews the annual budget before Board approval and reviews and approves budgets for each program and activity. It advises the Board of Directors as to the Chamber’s future financial needs and develops proposals for meeting those needs.
